Going to Kathmandu
Today I wanted to put my life aside. I didn’t feel like making decisions about sending relief funds to artisans in Andhra Pradesh, India, who have been flooded out of their homes and watched their personal possessions float away. I didn’t feel like deciding whether to send money to Indonesia to replace sewing machines and batik equipment lost in an earthquake. I wanted a break for the day. But then I realized those artisans couldn’t take a break, so I didn’t.
And then, I remembered...
I’M GOING TO KATHMANDU!
“I think I’m going to Kathmandu.I’ve never been there, and I think I’m going to love it so much I won’t want to come home. I’m headed to a great guest house with a garden and fabulous restaurants and an outdoor bar serving Everest Beer. A guest house that “acts as a magnet for mountaineers, pop stars, actors, troubadours and eccentric characters.” Now I’m psyched. Temples. Freak Street. Prayer flags. MoMos (Nepalese dumplings). Monkeys. Surging streets. Beggars. Life.
That’s really, really where I’m going to.
If I ever get out of here,
That’s what Im gonna do.
K-k-k-k-k-k Kathmandu.
I think that’s really where I’m going to.
If I ever get out of here,
I’m going to Kathmandu.”

Random stranger here who happened upon your blog - just to say Kathmandu is wonderful, you will love it, and on this wet day in Belfast, I very much wish I was going to Kathmandu!
Sounds great! We'll look forward to hearing all about it. Travel safe.

When can we trade lives, seriously?! I'm soooo jealous. And all the work you do is for the good of everyday people. I admire you. Serious.
I love it when people use songs in their blogs!
Kathmandu will be a nice place me thinks, from what I have heard about it.
The one thing I can say about life in the sub continent there, it is never dull or boring. Have a safe trip.
That sounds like great fun! Safe travels, and let us know your adventures!
Lucia, take me with you. It sounds fabulous.
Bob Seger...the man the myth the legend...
I so did NOT know it was spelled that way...and I'm a speller. :)
Lucia - have the best time ever ~I am truly envious, and hope you take some amazing photos! We are in the same city so sometime when you are home we should do coffee - or wine! I would love to see where you work.
